Foaling Services

At Wood Farm Livery we have had the pleasure of caring for various mares in foal and having them foal down in our care. We have then been responsible for the care and handling of the foals at foot until the time that they have been weaned. We have really enjoyed having Mares and Foals at Wood Farm and here are a few of the babies we have taken care of.

Ricoh was born in 2009 and is out of a Hanoverian x mare with his Sire being Garry William’s ShowMaker (Westphalian). The mare ‘Mia’ was previously competed by Stuart to Elementary/Medium level dressage until he decided to put her in foal and send her to Wood Farm on full livery. Ricoh has recently been backed and is starting his ridden career, showing lots of promise. He was always a very big foal having a 17hh+ Dam but he is also growing and has since taken Mum over in height!

Amelia (Forrest’s Satine)

Amelia was born in 2012 at Wood Farm and is out of Mette Assouline and Marc Auerbach’s Westphalian Stallion ‘Forrest Gump’ and a Trakehner mare. The Dam ‘Steffi’ had previously showjumped and been an allrounder till sustaining an injury which lead to the decision to breed from her. Amelia has been turned away locally with other youngsters and we look forward to seeing what the future has in store for her.

His Sire is ‘Welton Double Cracker’ (7/8 TB) from the famous Welton lines bred by the late Andy Barr, and currently competing Advanced BE. He has now been weened and recently castrated and we hope that his future will be in the Eventing world.
